Dongyan Wang is currently VP & GM of Midea Emerging Technology Center (Silicon Valley) and AI Research Institute (Shenzhen, China) in Midea Group. He is the overall AI leader for Midea. Dongyan’s responsibilities include, AI strategic application roadmap, AI Technology roadmap, various AI products in Smart Home, Intelligent Manufacturing, Robotics, and various AI business applications (in Sales, Marketing, Services, Supply Chain, Manufacturing etc.
Dr. Wang has almost 20 years high tech executive & experience leading world class, industry award winning, global high tech organizations for Global Fortune 500 enterprises & Silicon Valley startups. He has extensive experiences in AI Products, AI business applications, AI + BI (the concept Dongyan first created 5 years ago), advanced analytics, data science, big data, and a great variety of cloud and on premise enterprise IT applications.
Prior to Midea, Dr. Wang was the COO & SVP of Grand Intelligence, a SV consulting firm specialized in AI+BI, machine learning, deep learning, BI analytics, data science and big data solutions. Dongyan’s team has successfully delivered over 100 real world AI projects for Fortune companies. Before that, Dr. Wang was senior executive of NetApp, Cisco Systems and Samsung America, leading large, complex enterprise wide big data, BI analytics, data integration and smart home initiatives. He was responsible for 350 people global organizations with annual budget of $40+ Million USD.
Dr. Wang is a well-known leader and expert in the industry. His leadership won TDWI (The Data Warehouse Institute), Intelligence Enterprise RealWare Award, Information Week 500, InfoWorld 100 Awards, and Oracle BI/BPM innovation award. Dr. Wang holds a Ph.D., Master, and Bachelor in EE & CS, all in AI space. He has 10+ granted US patents, 10+ international patents, and multiple pending patents.
Edwards’ first encounter with Israel occurred during his work as an international communication officer in the Nanjing Government Foreign Affairs Office, where he collaborated with Tel Aviv University in organizing the Nanjing Day event for celebrating the 20th Anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties between China and Israel. This collaboration sparked his interest and he continued creating projects and partnerships among the China-Israel business ecosystem.
Edwards holds MBA from Tel Aviv University, M.A. in Diplomacy from Beijing Foreign Studies University and B.A. in International Politics from Beijing International Studies University.
